Estimating Soil Moisture over Winter Wheat Fields during Growing Season Using RADARSAT-2 Data

چکیده
Soil moisture content (SMC) is a significant factor affecting crop growth and development. However, SMC estimation, based on synthetic aperture radar (SAR), influenced by variety of surface parameters, such as vegetation cover roughness. As result, determining the across agricultural areas (e.g., wheat fields) remotely (i.e., without ground measurement) difficult to achieve. In this study, model-based polarization decomposition method was used decompose original SAR signal into different scattering components that represented mechanisms. The volume models were applied, then results compared in order remove contribution from canopy, extract related soil moisture. Finally, combining extensively CIEM Dubois), roughness parameters optimization, lookup table developed estimate during period. When R2 RMSE are 0.534, 5.62 vol.%, for Dubois model, 0.634, 5.16 respectively, which indicates approach provides good estimation performance measuring growing season.

Estimating Surface Soil Moisture Using Radarsat-2
Extremes in soil moisture, either too much or too little, present a significant risk to agricultural productivity. Managing and mitigating risk requires information and knowledge to assess risk potential, implement risk reduction strategies and deliver responses to this risk. Synthetic aperture radars (SARs) are sensitive to the dielectric properties of soils and are thus well suited to provide...

متن کاملSpatial Mapping of Soil Moisture Using Radarsat-1 Data
In this research, a back-propagation neural network was used to retrieve and map the surface soil moisture in Oklahoma (97d35'W, 36d15'N) from Synthetic Aperture Radar data acquired by RADARSAT-1 satellite. In addition to SAR backscattering, different vegetation-related information (vegetation optical depth and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) have been added as additional inputs to the ...

متن کاملPreliminary Study on Soil Moisture Forecast of Winter Wheat
Using four groups of survey data of soil moisture of winter wheat from returning green stage to harvest stage in Daxing region, the variation laws of soil moisture exponential depletion relations in 0-60cm depths during different growth stage are analyzed ,and based on soil moisture exponential depletion relations the forecast model of soil moisture depletion is built. The results indicate that...
